ponytail inspiration: put a ring on it

{via}

i am totally struck by this fun way to add a little sparkle to your everyday low pony. the shot above was snapped at dries van noten’s paris fashion week fall 2011 show where hairstylist paul hanlon added an adjustable gold ring to each ‘tail. stunning! it’s an idea that’s easy, achievable and talk about a great purchase – a dazzling stretch ring that compliments any cocktail dress or denim ensemble on the hand AND doubles as a hair tie for when the fun really gets rolling.

my tip for a smooth execution: slide an elastic on first, then the ring over top. and for those of you concerned that your hair will get caught up in the stretchy ring’s stretchiness, i can affirm that i have road tested this several times now without incident!

lucky for us, stretch rings are absolutely everywhere these days and you can add a little bling or a lot depending on your choice, style and mood. here are a few picks that would give instant glamor to to any pretty ponytail:

{1, 2, 3}

what do you think: will you give this runway-inspired trick a try?
