if you know me, you know i’m not one to get overly excited about a lipstick launch. i certainly appreciate the advancements that brands are making, but i usually just feel kind of “eh” when i test things.

that is *so* not the case with these new lips from laura mercier.

coming in three different finishes – matte, sheer, and creme – the formula is wax-free which means that my lips can actually breathe while wearing it. the pigments are powerful and the texture is smooth and weightless. i love the skinny bullets which make it extra easy to get these in the right place and they last a really long time with very little transfer onto wine glasses, etc. i’ve already honed in on three favorites, one from each finish, that i have been wearing in constant rotation (shown, from left to right):

mod (matte coral red) – i have *finally* found my favorite red and no one is more shocked than me that it’s a matte. this is the least drying matte (more of a satin) that i have ever tried and the color really brightens my skin tone.

chic (creme magenta) – this is a gorgeous deep magenta with a fully opaque creme finish. it’s got shine, is insanely comfortable to wear, and doesn’t feather or wander. i love the impact that this makes – the perfect evening lip.

shy (sheer warm pink) – this is a rosy tint that’s beautifully bright and leans towards the (in)famous “your lips but better.” i find that this finish is the least interesting in the color department, but it makes a great go-to shade if you’re in the no-makeup mood.

i definitely suggest you give these a test the next time you’re at sephora or the beauty counters, and i won’t be at all surprised if one (or more!) wanders into your basket.
