one step prep

we all want flawless looking skin, but i can’t personally say that i’m willing to work all that hard for it. and i also don’t love slathering on layers upon layers of serums for little result. the beauties at stila must be reading my mind (or maybe this blog!) and have developed one of the coolest products to come along in awhile. one step correct is an amazing time saver that color corrects and brightens with very little fuss. for $36 you get a triple-swirl of serums that:

  • neutralizes redness
  • controls blemishes
  • counteracts sallow undertones for a vibrant, energized look
  • brightens
  • illuminates
  • reduces the appearance of sun spots
  • diminishes the look of fine lines and wrinkles
  • hydrates
  • balances
  • nourishes
  • controls oil production
  • minimizes pores

can it fry an egg, too? sheesh!

it’s apparently weightless and doesn’t sit on the skin like other serums so it won’t clog your pores or irritate any sensitivities. i haven’t given it a try yet, but it is hot on my wishlist. with all of those lofty promises, i’ve just got to see if it delivers.

what are your thoughts on this one? too good to be true orĀ  one product to heal the world’s skin problems?

hey dude skincare

what is it with men and their skin? they rarely wash it, never protect it, and they’re already behind the 8-ball due to the necessary evil of daily shaving. i don’t expect them to be interested in it but it’s about time someone simplified a line for our menfolk.

enter, hey dude (no, not the beloved nickelodeon tv show. lord, did i have a soft spot for ted!), a creative collection of quality products to keep things easy on the skincare uneducated. i am in love with the tough guy packaging and clever names like “young dude 4ever” wrinkle reducing moisturizer, “pale face” sunblock, and “clean skin” cleansing gel. brilliant! the website itself is also geared towards taking the fear factor out of shopping for skincare. it offers tips to decipher your skin type and then a list of suggested products keeping it fool-proof.

i’m positive it’ll have your (cow)boy singing yippie ki yi yay.

maid of the mist

hopesprings

philosophy wows us once again with an innovative ultra-fine mist designed to wake up a tired complexion. hope springs eternal is hydrating and nourishing (over 250 minerals!) bringing moisture levesl right up to where they need to be in order to protect your precious skin. i love using it after i exfoliate with a warm washcloth. it calms redness and has a revitalizing scent that perks me right up in those dreaded early mornings. philosophy is billing it as a spritz of the fountain of youth, and i like that idea. a healthy mineral bath that leaves you looking gorgeous.

tarte lifted + too faced absolutely flawless

i love a product that works overtime. you know, serves its purpose but has a little something extra to go the distance and really knock my socks off. this glossarie post honors two such wunderkinds of the beauty market that are sure to earn a spot in your makeup treasure trove.

lifted

up above is new lifted by tarte, a natural eye primer that’s clinically proven to decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. it locks your shadow in place while lifting your lids, tightening and smoothing. not only has tarte created a natural way to grab onto my favorite pigments but they’re solving my mid-20′s crease crisis?! three words: sign. me. up.

herbal

so now that we’ve got your eyelids covered, let’s chat about that ever sensitive undereye area that just loves to get puffy and dark circle-y (at least, i know mine does). too faced has created absolutely flawless, a soothing, therapeutic herbal eye concealer. it feels refreshing and cools the skin instantly waking up tired eyes and creating a base to keep makeup lasting all day. the formula color corrects and blends easily so you can fake eight hours even if you saw the sun rise.

so tarte and too faced make it possible to party on a school night and skip the eye cream! you can thank them later.
