bag: c. wonder small floral pouch, $28

balm: bite beauty spf 15 sheer balm, $19

how cute is the nylon pouch from c. wonder? i love the shiny gold hardware and the matching floral lining. they come in five sizes and a variety of colors and prints making them uber pretty while being perfectly practical. (if you’re in the new york area, you likely already know the phenomenon that is christopher burch’s delightful shopping experience. if you’re not in the ny area, you can partake in all of the pleasures this spirited collection offers online.)

as for the balm, i’m having a moment with bite beauty as you know from this post. this balm has prime real estate on my bedside table and i have not gone a night without wearing it to bed sine it arrived on my doorstep. it has just the right balance between tug and glide when you apply it (lip balm connoisseurs will totally know what i mean by this – you don’t want a balm to be too slippy or too grippy) and feels lovely on the lips. the cream shade is a tender, nude pink, depositing nearly no color but refreshing my mouth in the best possible way.

ps – we’re down to the wire! i would love your continued votes and support as we round out the final days of the allure beauty blogger of the year competition :)

bag: lis sartori mini makeup bag in fashionista print, $14

balm: yes to carrots color balm in rosy bloom, $6

i fell hard for this month’s bag via instagram. seeing sarah’s chunky jewels spilling out of the green zipper version had me hook, line, and sinker. clicking around, i found that lis sartori is a brilliant illustrator and we have things in common, she and i: she’s from massachusetts with a penchant for all things feminine and girly. clearly this is someone whose work i need to support. the fabric on lis’s beauty bags represents classic fashion staples and was designed by lis herself. each bag is fully lined with a bright print and your choice of contrasting zipper. they come in two sizes (mini and maxi) and lis even designed a fun patchwork version if you’re looking for something extra special.

as for the balm, i’m seriously considering renaming this series bag + tinted lip balm. i am not meeting a tinted lip balm i don’t like these days, but none so much as my most recent love affair with yes to carrots color balm in rosy bloom. this pink stick has taken up permanent residence in my beauty basket and i can’t stop swiping it on my lips. the color is too perfect, almost a sheer cinnamon and the rich, nourishing hydration factor is spot on. take into considering the wallet-friendly price point and the 99% natural make up, i’m not sure how you can justify not trying this little lady.

bag: stephanie johnson mini pouch in malibu crinkle patent, $30

balm: sephora color reveal balm, $12

this month’s bag is a staple for me. it lives in my handbag and travels from work to play, stashing my pill box, headphones, lip balm, hair tie, mints, and business cards. it’s so versatile that it could serve virtually any purpose and it even works well as a wallet to carry cash, cards, keys, phone, etc. it’s no secret that i adore stephanie johnson and this pouch is just one of many reasons. she’s made it in a slew of colors and textures (i believe i count a whopping 47 listed!) and she’s also created this genius wristlet that you can purchase as an add on. i’m digging the six colors in malibu crinkle patent for their bold brightness and laid-back vibe, but the beauty of steph’s line is that there’s something for everyone.

this month’s balm is rocking my world. lip balm is the finishing touch to my morning makeup routine, but the naked lip can make me look a little washed out first thing in the am. sephora’s color reveal balm has vastly changed all of that. after swiping it on (and smelling it’s yummy vanilla scent), it blooms into a customized pink shade that’s not the normal nuclear fuchsia that these types of products tend towards (not flattering on anyone, let alone everyone). it’s a sheer wash of pink that’s not too soft, not too bold and it takes my look up a notch, making me look just a bit more lively than a clear balm would. i’ve bought two of these, keeping one in the bathroom beauty basket and one in my mini pouch because i love it that much. rumor has it that this little beauty is limited edition, so hustle on out to get your own if you must have!

ps – this little series is one year old this month! happy birthday, bag + balm

bag: emergency mascara pouch, $13

balm: 100% natural lip roll-on rose, $6

i love the simplicity of this month’s bag – and the cheeky silkscreen print?! so perfect. durable canvas in an ideal size (super slim with enough length for your favorite brushes) means you can really stuff it with beauty essentials and toss it in your tote for the ultimate in pretty portability.

the balm is really more of a gloss, but the roll-on is an irresistible throwback to the sweetness of bonne bell with the maturity of rose. the tiny tube leaves your lips with a moisturized shine and brings a welcome change from the boring vanilla scent everything else seems to don these days.

bag: broccato shimmer cosmetic clutch, $38

balm set: sara happ black cherry lip scrub + lip slip, $40

a fur pom and the perfect shimmer brocade make up this beautiful holiday bag for your beauty essentials by stephanie johnson. isn’t it divine? sara happ’s new limited edition lip scrub and her famous lip slip (a glossarie fave from way back in the archives) create extra kissable mistletoe lips. yum! wrap these pretties up under the tree for me and you have a friend for life. what about you?

speaking of pretty gifty, have you seen this nail polish set by refinery 29 and color club? i’m giving one away! enter to win before monday at 4:00 p.m.

looks good for your guy: november bag + balm

bag: tomlin cosmetic bag, $39

balm: molton brown protecting vitamin lipsaver, $18

these products may be male-friendly, but they are both totally steal-worthy and would be amazing additions to any lady’s travel repertoire!

the bag: i can’t tell you how long i’ve been searching for a canvas cosmetic bag. the classic look and practical nature is just too good to be true, and pottery barn totally got it right with their version in black and cognac. it’s the perfect size and the bottom zips off for extra storage or to make the bag more compact. so smart!

the balm: this vitamin-packed lippie has been extra good to have around on some of these cold november days. something about the super thick formula really sinks in and is more hydrating than others in its category. it also lasts for a really long time. there’s no smell or taste which most guys will love and it’s not overly shiny. lips look and feel so good – extra perfect for smooching! yum.

october bag + balm

bag: hand blocked zipper case from west elm, $7 – $12

balm: pacifica coconut pearls luminizing lip quench, $9

the bag: i am smitten with these patterned, plastic-lined cosmetic cases in three sizes and twelve great prints. each can be monogrammed for an additional $7 and west elm examples sport cute things like “goodies” or “jetsetter.” you have to take a peek at the whole collection. i haven’t seen bags this adorable, functional and price-friendly in a long while.

the balm: love, love, LOVE this over sized buttery, coconut-scented balm from pacifica. it leaves an iridescent shine on lips and is perfect for layering over a matte lipstick for extra hydration and a little shine. this little guy is going to breathe new life into your lip collection

at $16 for the duo, there’s really no excuse not to bring these two pretties into your world. happy weekend!

bag: stephanie johnson nevis fiona dome zip pouch, $30

balm: eos lip balm, $3

lips and handbags, rejoice! i’m back with another bag + balm duo, this one slightly inspired by the missoni for target insanity that i avoided at all costs (but what can i say, something about knitted rainbow brights is appealing and i can *almost* see why the masses were hypnotized by all the zig zaggy-ness).

bag: as you know, i met uber goddess stephanie johnson in person at lucky fabb and she might be my new favorite human, we had the best time girl talking! her fiona dome zip pouch in nevis is slim but spacious with plenty of room to pack up your touch-up polish, fave new lippie (see below), and any other necessities that you need to keep handy. the yummy sherbet stripes were inspired by stephanie’s recent family vacay to nevis – they’ll be so easy to spot in your satchel!

balm: for reasons unbeknownst to me, i never tried this allure best of beauty winner until nudged by a recent post over at cult of pretty. i picked it up in summer fruit on a recent drugstore run and could kick myself for not doing it sooner. i felt like i had gotten to a point where none of my lip balms were working but this little game changer needs just one application and it lasts a long, long time. plus – the packaging? so stinkin’ cute and practical, too (you can apply it to both lips at once!).

bag: charlotte ronson camo clutch makeup bag, $28 at sephora

balm: bliss fabulips softening lip balm, $16

i’m celebrating this thursday purseday with another fabulous cosmetic bag + lip balm pairing. let me know what you think of this dynamic duo!

the bag: i fell pretty hard for this runway-inspired camo clutch designed by charlotte ronson. it’s small enough to be tossed in a bigger bag when toting your favorite products, but also sizable enough to be taken out for drinks on its own. the detailing is extra pretty – with a gunmetal logo plate on the front and a cool vintage clasp on top. the colors in the camo print are equal parts edgy and girly, plus a nylon lining keeps things clean when the inevitable rollerball perfume breaks or liquid foundation leaks. winner!

the balm: i am forever on the hunt for a soothing new lip balm – one that moisturizes on contact but seals in hydration so that i’m not constantly reapplying. new fabulips from bliss is the actual softening balm used in luxurious facials in bliss spas worldwide. it’s intensely nourishing and has a permanent home next to my office computer so i can apply with ease whenever i like. you’ll want to stash one of these in every corner/cosmetic pouch you’ve got!

july bag + balm

hello, lovelies!

i’m here to bring some pretty to the start of your week with july’s bag + balm duo. i really love this month’s pair – a gorgeous summery cosmetic bag from tokyo milk and the absolute best lip balm i’ve discovered in a long while by malin + goetz.

the bag: this is just one of seven whimsical bags from tokyo milk – each more adorable than the next with precious vintage details (check out the butterfly zipper pulls!). your makeup stash will ride in style in any of these perfectly sized pouches, just $14.

the balm: i’m in serious lust with this balm. the formula does daily maintenance for dry lips and evening glamor – dab on a little for soothing, restoration and a little shine, or apply more generously for a yummy clear gloss to be worn alone or over your favorite ‘stick. your lips will think it’s happy hour – even if you’re still stuck at your desk! get it while you can for $12 at urban outfitters.

happy, happy monday.
