bareminerals blush in the natural high

bare escentuals natural high

part of the ready collection, this new blush from bareminerals comprises all of the mineral goodness from your favorite bare escentuals blushes in a solid form. antioxidant sea minerals help to smooth and soften skin while enhancing cheeks with an ultra flattering pop of color.

the blush itself is smooth and sheer, very easy to build and blend. i get an easy eight hours of wear without any added shine or extra attention to pores or imperfections. it’s just the right amount of glow in a color that’s perfect for my fair skin, but it’s a shade that will definitely flatter olive and caramel tones as well. the golden petal gives me a windswept flush and doesn’t accentuating the touch of redness that i get on my cheeks and around my nose this time of year (an impressive feat – i have to be so careful with blush color). i apply it using this brush in swirling circles and the finished look is pure perfection.

if you, like me, tend to collect these peach-gold-shimmer-rose toned blushes, this will be a welcome addition to your menagerie. note: it’s nearly sold out everywhere, get this one while you can!

pretty gifty: kits and sets

pretty gifty: kits and sets

my younger and wiser sister suggested a pretty gifty post centered around sephora’s amazing selection of combination sets and makeup kits that crop up by the dozen around the holidays. her exact words were “whoever said it was better to give than to receive clearly never got one of these!” she touts these selections for their wow impact and general bang-for-the-buck’ness – and who am i to argue with that kind of genius?

her picks for an extra beautiful holiday (in miniature) are as follows:

bareminerals the total package collection, $36
benefit cosmetics she’s so…jetset! $36
sephora favorites glitz and glam party sampler, $45
tarte the stand outs limited edition best sellers kit, $25
too faced beauty editor darlings set, $19 <– steal of the century!
smashbox try it kit, $19

bare escentuals bareminerals ready blush

gorgeous weather always sends me strolling in the beauty aisles for a new blush and there haven’t been many big developments in the world of cheek color in recent seasons. it’s cream or powder, matte or shimmer, but leave it to bare escentuals to shake things up in a good way.

the new black compact is a fresh addition to my beauty basket, trumping regular old powder blush with the addition of camellia flower oil which helps to keep its solid shape without the addition of fillers and parabens. the camellia oil also it to swirl on nicely and gives them an almost creamy feel. it’s the first time i can say that there’s something between cream and powder, and it’s this.

formula being a winner, it’s icing on the cake that the color run in this collection is one of the prettiest i’ve seen, from light nude to bold blushing pink. i’m highly pleased with the pigment and a finish that falls somewhere short of entirely matte, thanks to a slight sheen. this makes them all the more blendable.

the tiny brush, normally the first thing to go when i open a new blush, is especially great if you’re a gal who likes to take her blush on the road. it’s the high quality we’ve come to know and love from be in the brush department, but pocket sized.

all in all? pretty darn irresistible.
