there are seemingly thousands of available lip balm brands on the market so it can be beyond tough to choose the best one for you. with options popping up everywhere from the grocery store to the beauty counter to the bookstore and even in your favorite boutiques, how’s a girl to decide? i’ve founded up my five favorites to help you narrow the playing field.

1 – boots no7 protect & perfect lip cream, $8.39 – i picked this up at target and i love the way that it works to firm lips as it seals in moisture. the light lotion-like consistency make it a great pre-lipstick primer, too.

2 – coola liplux spf15, $12 – the protecting lip balm bar has been raised a notch with this a j.crew discovery. i’m obsessed with the peppermint vanilla flavor and the weightless waterproof formula. it’s so perfect for the pool!

3 – supersmile ultimate lip treatment, $24 – a genuine surprise from the teeth whitening experts, this one has almond oil and hyaluronic acid to nourish and condition. it feels so super soothing when it goes on and i almost never need to reapply.

4 – elizabeth arden eight hour nourishing lip balm spf 20, $19.50 – where has this stuff been all of my life? this is my go-to overnight lip treatment and i love how it seals in moisture and leaves my lips so soft in the mornings.

5 – eve lom kiss mix, $22 – i love this little tub! kiss mix is the ultimate lip treatment and it’s the best pre-makeup boost. menthol cools and plumps lips a bit and the finish has a touch of shine. you can wear it on its own or throw color over top, leaving lips soft and happy.

show me your lip bomb, elizabeth

the bomb:

fresh sugar lip treatment spf 15 in berry, $22.50
fresh sugar lip gloss in sugar flirt, $18
kiehls lip balm #1, $7
elizabeth arden 8-hour lip protectant, $19.50
estée lauder all day lipstick in spiced cider, $18.50

i plucked elizabeth’s lip bomb from the pile of many for several reasons – not the least of which is its seasonal appropriateness. two lip balms known for their richness and healing, a tinted lip balm, a gloss and a lipstick both beautifully berry in color – it all sums up to one wickedly winter’esque #lipbomb. beyond that, the single thing on my shopping list this weekend has been elizabeth arden’s 8-hour cream and as i popped into my inbox this morning to put this post together, there it was staring me in the face! so thanks for the nudge, elizabeth. this girl has a date with the beauty counter.
