recent beauty buys

it’s a little early to give these products their own private-post real estate on the glossarie, but as obsessed as i am with what other people are buying and adding to their beauty routines, i thought you might like to see my prettiest purchases of late.

1 – supposedly great for smoothing without crushing volume;
bumble and bumble straight blow dry
, $28

2 – according to miss g, this packs a lot of punch
but doesn’t clump or look too heavy;
covergirl natureluxe mousse mascara
in very black, $7

 3 – fell in love with the price and pigments of these singles
(oh, and they snap into these custom eye palettes);
mark. i-mark custom pick eyeshadow, $6

4 – nostalgia overcame me at target the other day
and i was reintroduced to an old friend from 7th grade;
bonne bell liquid lip smacker lip gloss in strawberry, $3

5 – another old friend, i’m excited to see if this gives
my tinted moisturizer more of a flawless finish;
laura mercier oil free foundation primer, $30

are there any exciting new products in your routine these days?

stila jewel eye shadow in rose quartz

stila’s new jewel eye shadow collection is really something. it’s catching rave reviews for smooth application, coverage, and staying power (since glittery shadows tend to fall to the undereyes) which does not surprise since stila has a long history of creating great shadows. for me, the crown jewel is rose quartz. the shade is a mauve pink with silver pearl which gives it serious shimmer but keeps it elegant (no chunky kesha glitter here). it’s definitely the most feminine of the bunch which is likely why it’s stolen my heart, but i’m finding that it makes a subtle and beautiful every day base shadow when applied with my finger.

now that it’s in my possession, i’m going to try and wear it daily – a major commitment for my always uninteresting little eyelids, but a shadow this pretty just can’t sit around in my beauty basket!

stila’s jewel eye shadows are $20 each at sephora and beauty.com.

and do tell: what do you wear on your eyelids everyday?

chantecaille sea turtle palette

happy friday guys and dolls! are you lucky enough to have three days off in your immediate future? oh, how i love a long weekend. to kick start the end-of-week bliss, i just had to showcase this incredible sea turtle palette from chantecaille. it is one of this week’s best things in beauty as far as i’m concerned.

at $79 it’s a complete splurge, but for three eye colors and one poppy cheek, it’s still a must in my book. for starters, this season is loving versatile charcoal / green and the pretty peach and emerald have me screaming SPRING! best of all, 5% of your purchase goes straight to widecast to help ensure the survival of sea turtles.

all together now: awwww!

if your afternoon could use a little more procrastination, here’s a few other things on my love list this week:

hope you lovelies have an amazing weekend!

sunny summer shadows from stila

i need this eyeshadow palette. not only is it from the shadow goddesses at stila and not only does it feature my most favorite shadow of all time (kitten) sandwiched between two new gorgeous and exclusive warm metallics (chloe and lamé), but it’s ten dollars! the it girl palette brings all kinds of sparkle and shimmer for summer in one sleek compact. my mind is racing with all of the potentially beautiful combinations! now, i’m guessing this amazingness won’t be around for long so i would encourage you to click on over to stila.com to score one before they’re all gone.

embrace your inner grace

{top row: heavenly light pink illuminator, amazing grace shimmering face powder, go with grace face brush; bottom row: angel kiss lip gloss, art of blushing, amazing grace coloring book}

philosophy has finally answered the prayers of their fragrance followers and created a set of cosmetics to expand its line of classic “amazing grace” scents and products into “the color of grace.” they have outdone themselves this time if you ask me with this beautifully understated (and pink!) collection. it’s all perfectly coordinated and almost ballet-inspired, bringing out my true girlishness. love!

my fave from the group is this soft & sheer eyelighting shadow duo — the most gorgeous nude and a chocolatey brown that was born to be smudged into the lash line. it’s effortless and the end results are brighteningly beautiful.

also loving the shimmering face powder (which is scented with amazing grace!), angel kiss gloss (the perfect muted pink), and the art of blushing (you know me and multicolored cheek color!).  i’m a smitten kitten!

wild flowers by paul & joe

paul & joe has me shouting for spring with their latest limited edition collection. sweetly sparkly and decorated with bright blooms and butterflies, wild flowers is about being free and uninhibited. would you look at those lip balms? they are too adorable for words! leave it our favorite parisian pair to perfectly capture the sweetness of spring in shadows and glosses. i love each product’s two complemented tones and charming designs. i can already tell you that lady slipper will be welcomed into my spring look and i might have to snag snapdragon and primrose for my darling junior bridesmaids (who are 8 & 10). i can’t get enough of these six little pots! have any of them caught your eye? (or lip?)

on a roll

i continue to be a makeup artist’s nightmare in that i only apply eyeshadow with my fingertips. what can i say? they’re very “handy” little tools! that being said, it’s obviously difficult to get technical and design-y which is a slight drawback. i’ve been looking for shadows that are easy to apply and i have found a favorite in sue devitt’s e-z eye roller ball shadow. (yes, i know i’m on a rollerball kick. but don’t put this one on your lips!) you can roll ‘em right over the lid and then blend as necessary. foolproof! the nine gorgeous shades are subtly shimmery and my favorite, hydra, is a pearl shade that’s perfect for dotting on the inner lid or sweeping on the brow bone. each one gives such a soft, glowing look. so if you’re a lazy lady – and i’m not judging! – you will want to give these a whirl.

eye & lip candy: nars spring collection

i have gone ga ga over nars spring collection which is super soft and sexy. three products in particular have me smitten:

lip gloss in easy lover – apparently every woman’s pink gloss & current glossarie lust have

next up, a yummy single shadow in subtle violet hue that will officially overtake clinique’s key lime pie as my shadow of the season

and finally a gorgeous duo that my unsteady hand will never do justice but just must belong in my makeup bag because it’s too pretty to pass up

the goods arrive at sephora this week (the 15th to be exact) so these pics won’t have to hold you over for long!
