i met marissa a couple of weeks ago when she and her team were sweet enough to treat me and several other bloggers to an insanely delicious tasting menu at brasserie beck before the gilt warehouse sale. marissa is a doll and she is flawlessly stunning. we instantly got to chatting about beauty, so when she expressed interest in sharing her #lipbomb, i jumped at the chance to feature her. marissa’s lip bomb is im-pressive! this lady totes a lot of lip product in her bag on the daily and she clearly plays favorites, carrying multiple products from nars and bobbi brown. i’ve got my eye on the baby benetint and the mentha lip shine – looks i’ll be making a couple of additions to my #lipbomb thanks to marissa!

best in beauty: spring 2013

spring beauty favorites

the beauty brands are coming out big for their spring 2013 launches and i am loving everything that I see. here are my picks for the best products from the spring 2013 collections:

paul & joe limited edition eye color in la belle epoque is perfectly pretty. shades of powdery pink and smoky gray mean that you’ll easily stay on trend this season. ($28, beautyhabit)

lancome nailed the blush trend this season. their “in love” blush for spring 2013 is a mix of pinks that presents the most gorgeous feminine flush. the brand also wins prettiest package with the added bonus of a slide out mirror. ($49, lancome)

deborah lippmann’s moon rendezvous nail lacquer gives a flash of metallic that’s perfect for day or night. since the color is on the pale side, you’ll be sweetly in line with spring’s pastel palette. ($17, nordstrom)

simple protecting light moisturizer isn’t heavy and it offers just the right amount of hydration as we head into the warmer months. i love the addition of spf15. ($10.99, amazon)

i’m getting my punk rock princess on with juicy couture’s new couture la la. talk about unexpected! this scent is all things girly, light, and sweet. ($70, nordstrom)

nars’ dressed to kill satin lipstick will go with many skin tones, and the gold-flecked fuchsia is just right for valentine’s day. get a bold rosebud lip from this tried and true formula – it’s definitely a shade you’ll wear for seasons to come. ($24, nars)

simple’s eye make up remover pads are a welcome addition to my beauty routine. i really feel like the market has been missing a disposable eye makeup remover wipe that’s easy on sensitive skin. these are sized right and impressively effective for removing all of spring’s eye makeup (including waterproof mascara) in one swipe. ($5.00, amazon)

bonne bell lip smacker in dr. pepper, $1.99

lindsay and i met at lucky fabb in 2011, but we had been fairly obsessively reading each other’s beauty blogs well before then. it is so fun to know lindsay and compare blogging notes – she’s very much like a kindred beauty spirit! her #lipbomb makes me so happy, mainly because it includes both bonne bell and tom ford and i think that’s unbelievably awesome. if you don’t know lindsay, i would definitely encourage you to browse through her beauty musings. and if you want to send me your #lipbomb, please do!

revlon colorburst lip gloss in sunset peach, $7.49
revlon just bitten kissable balm stain in romantic, $8.99

now, i have never met olivia but i know that we would be fast friends. i have loved and adored this girl since discovering her impeccably designed and incredibly well edited line of bracelet hair ties two years ago. she started her successful e-commerce and wholesale brand in her college dorm room and it has developed into something that’s been recognized by some of the industry greats. it has been amazing to watch her grow!

a true beauty addict, her #lipbomb is impressive for two reasons: 1) olivia obviously plays favorites – nars, buxom, and revlon are each represented multiple times (meaning she clearly believes in those brands, i love the loyalty) and 2) she’s got some limited edition shades in the mix that are no longer available (a girl after my own heart).

this is definitely not the last that we will be seeing of olivia or mane message on this here blog – i’m so thrilled to feature her #lipbomb today!

show me your lip bomb

i think the general rule is that the average lady carries 3+ lip products in her purse at any given time. that’s a fairly impressive statistic on its own, but every time i hear it, i feel compelled to inquire: yes, but which ones?

in a new blog series i’m calling “show me your lip bomb” i am begging reader friends to snap a shot of the lip products currently in their bag. the picture doesn’t need to be anything fancy (we’re talking unfiltered iphone photo up there), just clear enough to see all of your beauty booty. here’s my current collection:

nars velvet gloss lip pencil in new lover, $24
clinique chubby stick in voluptuous violet, $16
smashbox reflection high shine lip gloss in firecracker, $19
vapour lux organic lip conditioner, $16
vspro moisture fx softening lip balm (coming soon to victoria’s secret!)
revlon colorburst lip butter in cotton candy, $6
covergirl natureluxe gloss balm in tulip, $6
fresh sugar berry tinted lip treatment, $22.50
hobo’s rae lipstick case, $38

so, now it’s your turn! regardless of whether you’re a saver or a spender, an addict or a minimalist, i want to see the explosion (or lack) of lip products you keep on hand. my only rule is that you don’t edit or add. i really want to see your purse lip collection as it exists in nature and i’m hoping to feature as many as possible.

so won’t you please send your lip bomb my way? email theglossarie@gmail.com – i can’t wait to see what comes of this little project!

nars soft touch shadow pencil in empire

new favorite product alert!

i am obsessed with the nars soft touch shadow pencil in empire from the new nars andy warhol collection. this black liner stick is incredibly thick, so you can apply it as either a standard eyeliner, or as a shadow base for a fabulous smoky eye. i have a feeling this is going to become an everyday staple for me as i have already been carrying it with me everywhere i go since purchasing two days ago.

i’m also extremely tempted to buy the liner in aigle noir, a black shade with flecks of gold – perfect for the slew of holiday parties that come with the season. isn’t it gorgeous?

both shades of the nars soft touch shadow pencil (and nine other luscious options!) are available here for $24.
