on my lips

on my lips

full-coverage base: stila’s long wear  lip color is subtle and stays put. a formula that begs to be layered under a gloss, the pigment is true to color and glides on with ease. because the applicator is much smaller than your standard lipstick, it’s a perfectly precise pop. the shade ‘lover’ is my current favorite for ruby-red, snow white lips.

gloss on top: i’ve been layering my new favorite lip gloss over absolutely everything. estee lauder’s pure color gloss in citron kiss is a golden yellow shimmer and it pairs perfectly with just about all of my lip products. it adds a lightweight gloss to anything matte and drying, warming up the darker shades that got me through the winter months. it’s a must-add essential to your lip wardrobe.

what i’m wearing + lovely links

what i'm wearing

happy weekend, lovelies!

i’m off to new jersey for a wedding, sporting a fresh paint job on my hands and feet. lindsay from belle belle suggested an orange-red on hands and metallic toes, so i went with it! i also opted for a brand new fuchsia lip from stila and it is serious business.

are you wearing anything new and exciting in the beauty department this weekend?

stila jewel eye shadow in rose quartz

stila’s new jewel eye shadow collection is really something. it’s catching rave reviews for smooth application, coverage, and staying power (since glittery shadows tend to fall to the undereyes) which does not surprise since stila has a long history of creating great shadows. for me, the crown jewel is rose quartz. the shade is a mauve pink with silver pearl which gives it serious shimmer but keeps it elegant (no chunky kesha glitter here). it’s definitely the most feminine of the bunch which is likely why it’s stolen my heart, but i’m finding that it makes a subtle and beautiful every day base shadow when applied with my finger.

now that it’s in my possession, i’m going to try and wear it daily – a major commitment for my always uninteresting little eyelids, but a shadow this pretty just can’t sit around in my beauty basket!

stila’s jewel eye shadows are $20 each at sephora and beauty.com.

and do tell: what do you wear on your eyelids everyday?

guest posting: stila loves old and new

makeup junkies: do you remember the brand that started your addiction? the product that fueled the fire?

i’m guest blogging for stila today and telling all, from my entry to the brand with their baked cheek duo to my latest stila love, the brighten and correct concealer. click on over to the stila blog to read more!

moody beauty a la scarlett johansson

i absolutely adore this shot of scarjo swiped from one of my new favorite blogs. maybe it’s her wild hair or that insane turquoise butterfly necklace, but i’m so super smitten by her moody makeup.

smudgy copper under-eyes, plummy purple lips and those arch-less brows all sum up to one sultry scarlett and i just had to find the perfect products to recreate this pretty face:

think this look is one you can find an occasion for? i really want to try it!

it’s here! stila forever your curl mascara

this new formula was first announced by sarah lucero, celebrity makeup artist for stila, at new york fashion week and i’m happy to announce that it has landed at stila.com! she told us that the revolutionary mascara curls your lashes immediately upon application but then also works to curl them over time so you can toss your lash curler.

i am yet to test this so a full review is pending, but i’ve received oodles of questions about forever your curl with its innovative lash perming / curl memory technology since writing about it on my return from nyc.

other things to note on this much anticipated newbie mascara: it’s fiber-free – meaning you shouldn’t feel it when it’s on like you do with blinc and some of the “tubing mascaras; the brush is very cool – designed to really stretch and lengthen lashes; the color is blackest black – the only appropriate shade for mascara as far as i’m concerned; it’s long-wearing but water resistant – so you will most likely need remover to take it off.

so what do we think? will you purchase and try forever your curl? it’s available exclusively at stila.com for $22.

another pretty face: blake lively

{***}

i have fallen hard for blake’s perky makeup at the chanel dinner held in her honor (rough stuff, right?). she is sporting the most perfect of-the-moment shimmer peach rimmed eyes and a bright pink lip that can’t be ignored. she’s also got the right dusting of pinky bronze on the apples of her cheeks, long luscious mascara and precisely defined brows. ahh, perfection.

want to recreate this pretty? some product suggestions:

top it off with your fave mascara, a swipe of black liner,  green earrings to make that pink lip pop and blake won’t be the only one looking lively!

winter love for your lips: a friday fave + link love

jane iredale is known for what she calls “the skincare makeup.” her products are simply amazing for prettifying while also healing and helping the skin. what a concept! my new favorite from jane is this double-sided sugar&butter lip exfoliator and plumper. it’s essentially a sugar scrub and plumping lip butter in one pretty pink magic wand and a must have for the fierce and freezing weather we’ve been having. it leaves lips feeling renewed, looking plump, tinted pink and tasting incredible. it’s available for $24 on jane’s site.

here are a few other things i’m loving this week:

what are you up to this weekend? i’ve got a nice quiet couple of days ahead and wish you a very happy one!

sunny summer shadows from stila

i need this eyeshadow palette. not only is it from the shadow goddesses at stila and not only does it feature my most favorite shadow of all time (kitten) sandwiched between two new gorgeous and exclusive warm metallics (chloe and lamé), but it’s ten dollars! the it girl palette brings all kinds of sparkle and shimmer for summer in one sleek compact. my mind is racing with all of the potentially beautiful combinations! now, i’m guessing this amazingness won’t be around for long so i would encourage you to click on over to stila.com to score one before they’re all gone.

pretty innovative

i’m not a big fan of foundation, but i’ve decided to feature a newbie to the beauty market that may have just changed my mind: stila’s one step makeup. one step is an impressive primer, foundation, concealer, and powder all in one. it’s also made 100% of minerals yet it’s medium coverage (note:  if you like a sheerer look, it won’t be a fit). overall, i think it’s a great little product that’s very high performance – it’s smooth, almost whipped, easy to blend, finishes nicely, and hydrates while also controlling shine. for $44 it’s definitely worth the buy for beauties currently using a primer/foundation/powder system. the only thing missing is spf and the kitchen sink!
