recent beauty buys

it’s a little early to give these products their own private-post real estate on the glossarie, but as obsessed as i am with what other people are buying and adding to their beauty routines, i thought you might like to see my prettiest purchases of late.

1 – supposedly great for smoothing without crushing volume;
bumble and bumble straight blow dry
, $28

2 – according to miss g, this packs a lot of punch
but doesn’t clump or look too heavy;
covergirl natureluxe mousse mascara
in very black, $7

 3 – fell in love with the price and pigments of these singles
(oh, and they snap into these custom eye palettes);
mark. i-mark custom pick eyeshadow, $6

4 – nostalgia overcame me at target the other day
and i was reintroduced to an old friend from 7th grade;
bonne bell liquid lip smacker lip gloss in strawberry, $3

5 – another old friend, i’m excited to see if this gives
my tinted moisturizer more of a flawless finish;
laura mercier oil free foundation primer, $30

are there any exciting new products in your routine these days?

sonia kashuk beautifying blush

every once in awhile a drugstore product comes along that beats out its pricey designer rivals. if your cheeks are looking for a little “oomph” but your pockets don’t want to pay a lot of moolah, it’s time you met sonia kashuk’s beautifying blushes. chic round compacts house one of five gorgeously natural, matte shades that give cheeks the perfect flush. each powder is finely milled and rich in pigment so color pay off is amazing. i’m especially in love with flamingo’s childlike pink tint! all in all, this is one of those blushes that applies beautifully and lasts all day, worth every one of the 899 pennies you will spend to get your own.

sonia kashuk’s beautifying blush is available at target for $8.99.

pixi lip twin vs. korres lip butter glaze

in stark contrast to last weekend’s peek inside the glamorous life, this weekend holds hours of schoolwork and babysitting while the husband hosts a bachelor party in atlantic city. to add a little shine to this humdrum weekend of mine, i’m thinking about picking up a new wallet-friendly gloss and i’ve narrowed it down to two:

pixi succulent lip twin cheek and lip color duo
$18 at target and online

a multitasker! the tube houses a fruity, satin-y balm with light pigment. the dome is a semimatte cheek / lip tint in a matching shade.

korres lip butter glaze
$14 at sephora

vanilla scented, crazy moisturizing, nonsticky, sheer, shiny goodness in an application-friendly tube.

i love how clever and cutesy the pixi is but i’m also a longtime fan of korres and love to see the famous butter in shinier, more vibrant hues. decisions! your votes and opinions are much appreciated. here’s hoping a new gloss makes my weekend! and now, a few things that have already made my week:

happy friday!

revlon colorburst lip gloss gives sparkle and shine without the sticky

i am on a drugstore kick! is it just me or is the makeup at cvs getting better and better? pair the awesome selection with their new beauty club and i may never return to the black and white striped mecca of makeup! (not really, let’s be honest … but i am quite impressed)

so, onto today’s pretty product: this gorgeous collection of colorburst lip glosses by revlon that i cannot stop obsessing over. they are luxurious and rich, offering full coverage but keeping very light and unsticky at the same time. at $6, each shade is more vibrant than the next thanks to some shiny microcrystals – making it tough to choose just one to take home! i went for peony, a natural peachy pink, and i’m loving the vanilla scent (some may argue that it’s kind of highschool-ish, but it’s not overpowering and i find it kind of nostalgic). the brush is plush, not like a paint brush style, but flexible and flat. sounds weird, but it’s contoured to your lips so it actually distributes the perfect does of colorburst-iness. better than a bright new accessory, and cheaper, too, these are a great way to add pop to your look. they are available in stores everywhere and online at target.

beauty in the wild

eco-friendly luxe is in for spring and sonia kashuk is leading the charge. she has created a stylish collection for target made with nature’s most beautiful elements and the best of the bunch is this out of the woods brush set housed in a chic cork clutch. the handles are genuine bamboo and each brush is made of a natural/synthetic combo that’s both innovative and organic. so now makeup lovers can powder their noses (and eyelids and cheeks) with a guilt-free conscience!

i’ve found kashuk’s brushes to rival the professional ones at sephora but at a fraction of the price. the set is available at target stores this month for just $19.99!
