i’m obsessed with all things multicolored and have been delighted by the gorgeous options on the beauty market. just a few of the pretty possibilities:
one: clarisonic surf mia2, $159 (and 20% off!)
the glossarie is dedicating the month of april to the art of the shower! read more april showers themed posts here.
i am late to the april showers party, but had to squeeze in two quick reviews of newly-discovered products that are making my mornings extra lovely before the month is out!
victoria’s secret ‘love my body’ nearly nude body wash ($12) has quickly become a part of my daily routine thanks to the luxe, creamy texture and amazing scent. i’ve been religiously using the jasmine and water lily scent in my loofah, and the rich lather is the perfect daily moisturizing treat for my skin. plus, the scent lingers throughout the day.
eos ultra moisturizing shave cream ($3.49) has been keeping my skin bump-free (seriously! i’ve never been able to say that about a shaving cream product before.) shea butter and aloe make it incredibly nourishing, and i’m loving the pomegranate raspberry scent right now. note: it claims to work on wet or dry skin, but i haven’t braved the dry skin test yet.
what new products are making the cut in your get-clean routine?
internet home: right here on the glossarie!

one of the best things about marrying my husband is his amazing group of girl cousins. they are all my age, super sweet and really fun. steve’s cousin diana and i have fiercely bonded over our shared beauty addiction so it’s no surprise that i own almost all of the lip products in her collection. thanks for sharing your lip bomb, d!

1 - laura mercier’s la petite patisserie sampler – hand crème quartet, $28: we already know about my obsession with the scent of laura mercier’s almond coconut body butter. with this limited edition sampler, give the gift of four luxurious hand creams. (delicious scents include almond coconut milk, crème brulée, crème de pistache and fresh fig- yum!)
3 – baublebar + essie, $50: we already know that this genius collaboration allows you to pair an essie winter shade with three baublebar bracelets. i’ve had my eye on the “butler please” set for quite some time now. (hint, hint, santa…)
4 – pacifica solid perfume samples, 5 for $12.95: these .1 oz solid perfumes are perfect to throw in your purse for those emergency i-need-perfume-NOW situations (with no risk of spillage!). we’re big fans of the best-selling island vanilla scent. other favorites include the tuscan blood orange, a refreshing citrus pick-me-up, and the indian coconut nectar, which injects a burst of summer into the coldest of winter days.
5 – victoria’s secret eyeshadow quad in overnight sensation, $18: perfect for the pal who might need a little push to tempt the smoky eye, each quarter is labeled with “base,” “lid,” “crease,” and “highlight” for an easy, do-it-yourself guide to glam.
6 – thebalm ‘mary lou manizer’ highlighting powder, $24: another beauty favorite discovered thanks to birchbox – add a little shimmer to someone’s holidays with this adorably packaged luminizing powder.
7 – stila all is bright lip glaze set, $25: ah, stila, i can’t quit you. again and again i return to my favorite brand of lip glosses, and this lovely spread of glazes (with a range wide enough to suit anyone) doesn’t disappoint.
i think the general rule is that the average lady carries 3+ lip products in her purse at any given time. that’s a fairly impressive statistic on its own, but every time i hear it, i feel compelled to inquire: yes, but which ones?
in a new blog series i’m calling “show me your lip bomb” i am begging reader friends to snap a shot of the lip products currently in their bag. the picture doesn’t need to be anything fancy (we’re talking unfiltered iphone photo up there), just clear enough to see all of your beauty booty. here’s my current collection:
nars velvet gloss lip pencil in new lover, $24
clinique chubby stick in voluptuous violet, $16
smashbox reflection high shine lip gloss in firecracker, $19
vapour lux organic lip conditioner, $16
vspro moisture fx softening lip balm (coming soon to victoria’s secret!)
revlon colorburst lip butter in cotton candy, $6
covergirl natureluxe gloss balm in tulip, $6
fresh sugar berry tinted lip treatment, $22.50
hobo’s rae lipstick case, $38
so, now it’s your turn! regardless of whether you’re a saver or a spender, an addict or a minimalist, i want to see the explosion (or lack) of lip products you keep on hand. my only rule is that you don’t edit or add. i really want to see your purse lip collection as it exists in nature and i’m hoping to feature as many as possible.
so won’t you please send your lip bomb my way? email email@example.com – i can’t wait to see what comes of this little project!
these tubes have a luxe appeal that i can appreciate. i love the extra detail of their twist top, giving them an apothecary feel, but also the fact that they are plastic, not metal. this means that there’s none of the oh-god-how-do-i-stop-the-lotion-from-coming-out panic moments after you squeeze to apply. but as good as these hand creams look on the outside, it’s what’s inside that’s really got me singing.
the lotions that live inside these tubes are deeply nourishing, boasting a trio of unique scents. not only do they glide on and sink right in, leaving skin intensely soft, but they offer up their subtle perfume throughout the day making me smile every time i touch my hair (which is a lot). shea butter and avocado oil make these ultra rich and gorgeous and i feel like they really soothe my skin, restoring and moisturizing – perfect for fall and the colder months to come.
victoria’s secret moisture luxe hand cream comes in three scents, each available for $14 here.
every so often, i discover pretty things in unexpected places.
like victoria’s secret.
the lingerie and swimsuit behemoth has been hiding a tiny gem in pro smooth fx lip scrum & balm. this double decker pot delivers a perfect pout in two simple steps: swipe on a sweet sugar scrub and rub lips together a few times to smooth flakes and rough spots, then tissue off and top with a light layer of moisture-rich balm to hydrate. this pair is surprisingly convenient, completely clever, and all-in-all a delightfully inexpensive little multitasker.
bottom line: $14, thirty seconds, and you’re ready to glam it up, buttercup.
