so, here’s the situation with my hair. it was life-giving during my pregnancy. so thick and strong and healthy. then it was somehow even better after delivering lou and through nursing, but once i stopped, all hell broke loose and it has been a sad state of affairs ever since. it’s thin and limp and blah – and winter is just making all of those things worse.
typically, i alternate between cleansers / conditioners / stylers made for volumizing and those used for damaged hair. since it’s gotten thinner, i have to wash and style it more frequently which means more exposure to my hot tools. i try not to use anything heavy when styling, but no matter that i choose i still have that gross, slick feeling on my hands after applying a styler to my wet hair. i know you know what i’m talking about here.
for the past couple of weeks, i have been using rusk elixir mist and hello! there is something very refreshing and different about this product. for one, it’s an incredibly light and fine spray – mist is the perfect word for it. (i will note that i actually hop back into the shower to apply because it’s a little hard to control.) after i’m done running my fingers through my freshly misted hair, my hands feel clean. no residue! nothing! no need to use my husband’s towel as a grease rag. (because hell if i will allow my acne-prone face to touch something laced with hair product – am i the only one guilty of this?)
after blowing it dry, my hair is so smooth and shiny that i can get away with leaving it un-straightened. i can actually (gasp!) embrace a bit of my natural texture. the product is hydrating, but non greasy. i love the heat protection and i love the way that my hair feels on days one, two and (if i’m lucky) three.
if my fellow flat-haired gals are on the hunt for something new and different, i am highly recommending this stuff. at under $20 it’s the real deal and i’m pretty shocked that such an innovative product has been flying so under the radar.
