i’m off to lincoln center!17

{via willowlove on pinterest}

happy weekend, lovelies! i am off to my very first new york fashion week experience (squeal!) and cannot wait to delight in the company of some of the bloggers i have read and admired for so long – most of which inspired the creation of this very site. it’s a whirlwind 24 hours ahead with the ultimate beauty-fashion-lifestyle tweet up tomorrow evening in soHo and then taking in the show of one of my very favorite designers, lela rose, on sunday where i’ll be covering hair by ted gibson for beauty.com. i’m way nervousola.*

are you doing anything fun this weekend? will you be in nyc by chance? would love to see friends/readers/blogstresses in the big apple! but, if we don’t bump into one another, i look forward to debriefing the madness with you all on monday.

for now, here are a few fun links for your afternoon:

a very happy friday!

thursday purseday: kate spade gold coast lily3

meet lily, my latest love. her small size and light gold chain make her the perfect alternative to the party clutch. she’s versatile with a convertible drop length – leave it long for a cross-body look or a cool one-shoulder throwback vibe and double it up for a chic statement, day or night. she’s sweet with a woven polka dot lining and she’s glamorous with her bold gold turnlock. i can’t turn away from her edgy details. but if you can’t turn away from her $300 pricetag, she’s available on bag borrow or steal.

wakeup your makeup with pangea’s facial toner4

my final semester of grad school is proving to be killer – and i don’t mean killer like awesome. i mean killer like “if i keep this pace up for three more months, i might collapse.” alas, collapsing is no option and sadly nor is adding hours to the 24-hour day so that i can sleep a little more. so, tired it is.

i refuse, however, to look tired. enter pangea organics argentinean tangerine & thyme facial toner. i never thought i needed a toner, but was wooed by the promises of skin nurturing and refreshment. my skin is slightly oily on the regular but can be a little dry after i wash it so on mornings when i wish i could have snoozed 30 more times, i’ve been spritzing this herbal tonic all over my face to rejuvenate and refresh after cleansing. it has quickly become my favorite part of my morning. spritz, deep breaths (because it smells yummy and awakens the senses – i know i sound like a folgers commercial here but trust me), then pat dry. ta da! balanced, fresh skin with improved texture, ready to take on the day.

it’s what my skin has been missing and i’m convinced that it is this toner in particular doing the magic, especially if you’re prone to shine and/or need a little morning pick-me-up before you can even think about coffee. pangea organics facial toner is available in three scents at sephora for $26.

travel pretty: new cinda b. vertical cosmetic bag3

new in the “bag it” department is the vertical cosmetic from cinda b. that smarty cinda took the organization of her hanging cosmetic and the extreme roominess of her x large cosmetic (which is amazing but bulky and not-so-suitcase friendly!) to create a brand new super functional and super cute travel bag for your beauty essentials. the design of the bag itself is really great in that it’s tall and wide, but thin so it slides easily into duffels and other luggage. it also stands up on its own (open or closed) making it easier to access your goodies. with five inner pockets and one large central compartment i’m finding that its one perfect traveler for lugging all of my makeup and toiletries, including full-size skincare, hair and shower products. if you’re in the market for a carry-all cosmetics case, this one does it in style!

all of cinda’s pieces are durable, bright and currently 30% off with code CBVAL11 until february 15th.

february favorites: v day lovelies4

1 / 2 / 3 / 4

a most glamorous cocktail ring, sexy scented candles, a poppy striped keyring, and luscious cupcake-flavored lip scrub are just four of the things i’m loving this month. not only would any of them make perfect valentine’s day prezzies (pay attention, fellas – all three of you reading) but they would certainly bring a little brightness to you year-round.

i sure hope my valentine is reading :)

do you make love lists? what’s caught your eye this month?

urban decay supercurl curling mascara0

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

i am so tough to impress when it comes to mascara. i have decided that my lashes need more than length and volume. they need sculpting. i want a mascara that holds steady and fast, giving me statue-like perfection that stays all day. no smudges, not a flake, oh and also some definition and thickening, please.

is that so much to ask?

i used to think that it was, but one cosmetic company has answered the call and no one is more surprised than me to find that my new mascara favorite comes from urban decay. i truthfully have not been a fan of previous mascara releases from UD, but i am sitting up and paying attention to this pretty gunmetal tube with swirling lash-like scrolls because what lives inside is changing the mascara game.

it meets all of my criteria for the ultimate mascara with a rich, thick formula and a brush designed to fit the contour of your lash line. i will note that you *should* curl your lashes before applying because it just seems to work a bit better when you do. the results are dramatic and doll-like and what i have been longing for – one of the best overall mascaras to be released in the longest time.

are your lashes as high maintenance as mine? go get your own! urban decay supercurl curling mascara is available for $20 at sephora, urban decay, and ulta.

thursday purseday2

thursday purseday was created by angela of swatchbook weddings in the fall of 2010 and is now a weekly feature among several blogs, wedding and non-wedding alike. now, i adore a good satchel (falls along the same “always fits” theory of my first love, earrings) so the excuse to post a weekly favorite is just too much fun to pass up!

for my inaugural choice, i’m going with this mz wallace hamish pouch in platinum leather. it oozes glamour with its red-orange lining and fancy tassel zipper pull. there’s enough room inside for your phone, wallet, and favorite gloss, plus its sleek but slouchy style makes it easy to hang on to. best of all? at the piperlime sale price of $49.99 it’s going to be easy on the debit card as well.

so, a very happy thursday purseday, readers! i look forward to your comments on purse numero uno and if it’s a hit, i may just have to try tuesday shoesday on for size.

blog crush: cherry blossom girl5

i have the biggest blog crush on cherry blossom girl for endless reasons, not the least of which are that she wears fabulous h&m dresses and  partly posts in french and creates completely genius (hello, paper hole reinforcements!) half-moon manicure tutorials that look like this:

a) how gorgeous is her engagement ring?
b) love that she’s using sephora by opi!
c) must run out and get some quick drying drops for my impatient self asap

what i love best is that she makes it look so easy! i know my home spa treatment confidence is restored. will you give this one a try?

lust have it: bobbi brown’s tibi python & peony beauty kit2

the new tibi peony & python beauty kit by bobbi brown has shot to top of my list of latest lust haves. it’s one half of a two part, limited release collection currently in preview at both neiman marcus and bergdorf goodman for the rather cringe-worthy cost of $95. the way i see it, the pink peony illuminating bronzer just HAS to be mine. it’s the ultimate cool pink with gold flecks with the right amount of pigment. i figure those babies retail at $33 alone, let alone the fact that i’m also coming away with the most adorable zippered pouch by tibi, a full-sized gel liner in black mauve (not new, but an of-the-moment black/brown/purple sure to look great on everyone), one of bobbi’s brightening glosses in lilac shimmer (honestly, these are not my favorite but tons of people love them), and two mini brushes – face blender and eyeliner. sounds like $95 well spent to me?

(sigh.)

this is a peek into how i justify my outlandish beauty buys and get myself into trouble : )

anyone else guilty of a little in-your-favor shopping math?
