tea time for tocca2

i’m looking for a fresh summer fragrance and i think i may have found a serious contender in tocca’s new bianca. technically a soft floral, the scent comes across as what i can only describe as girly citrus. it has a hint of mojito (thanks to green tea, lemon, and sugar in the ingredient list, i’m guessing!) but is very grown up and perfect for pairing with linen pants and wispy tanks. you must go smell this one gals, and i dare you not to scoop it up for yourself!

lovin’ the lilac3

it’s easter weekend and i’m reminiscing long lazy brunches and pastelle-y dresses but nothing’s got me more in the spirit to go egg hunting than essie’s soft lavender polish, lilacism. i’m finding romantic purple to be the perfect update to my recent obsession with neutral mushroom. and essie’s not the only brand getting in on the action, others are also jumping on the violet bandwagon for spring:

ysl la laque in mauve silk

lippmann collection purple rain

american apparel dynasty

this color is so of the moment, gorgeous on fingers and toes alike, and (most importantly) won’t it look fancy with your easter bonnet?

outter beauty2

it’s been awhile since i’ve featured a totally gorgeous cosmetics bag so, without further adieu, let me introduce the uber stylish a touch of ivy. these pretty pouches are printed silk on the outside and lined with vinyl inside to protect against product spills. their one-zipper style also makes them nice and easy to flip inside out and scrub should disaster strike in the form of a foundation explosion or lip balm meltdown. i personally can’t get enough of the amazing prints (some of them look like pucci!). there’s something for everyone in this collection and they would make great gifts. if your makeup is looking for a new home or there’s a lady in your life you’d like to treat to something special, visit beautyhabit to pick up one of these sassy sacks in small or medium. oh, and if you’re picking one up for me, i love the coral coral up above : )

there’s a new love in my life! neutrogena’s healthy lengths mascara has brought the bambi bigness back to my lashes and at a price i can get used to. the formula lengthens and strengthens wrapping your lashes in rice protein for beautiful nourishment and the brush is amazing (although i had my doubts at first glance!). it leaves not-a-one clump or flake and easily sweeps on drama of the long and thick variety. as for color, i highly recommend the carbon black – it gives that deep, inky look that defines the eye, almost giving the impression that i’m wearing liner. this mascara makes a noticeable difference to the entire face and i am totally wowed.

i just love a good drugstore find, don’t you?!

saturday sephora finds2

i spent part of my saturday wandering the aisles of my favorite beauty wonderland discovering new-to-me products. here’s what i stumbled upon:

{dior creme de rose smoothing plumping lip balm}

not sure how this pretty pot has escaped me before! let’s just say i walked into sephora with a parched pucker and walked out with lips that were soothed and supple. whether or not this is worth it’s $25 pricetag i will leave up to you beauties, but on first impression, i was really pleased.

{benefit cosmetics speed brow}

benefit is a brand known for creating products with purpose. this pretty little problem solver is an impressive multitasker – a tinted brow gel. it’s a one stop shop for perfect brows: just a single swipe tames and sets brows while also filling in sparse spots thanks to its naturally flattering shade.

so, there you have it, two brand new additions to my beauty arsenal. do you ever shop sephora with no specific purpose? tell me what you’ve found!

pop quiz!2

which fabulous beauty brand makes the gorgeous multi-hued compact up above?

if you guessed guerlain, you’re wrong! i mistook this pretty powder for the high-tech meteorites powder put forth by the french beauty giant. (unfortunately for me, these days, $65 is a pair of wedding-day earrings not a beauty buy.) you may jump for joy when i tell you that the pearly palette up above is by none other than the drugstore aficionado, physicians formula! it retails for a much more wallet-friendly $14 and is part of the brand’s major overhaul which has pumped out some amazingly awesome new products. this particular piece is part of the mineral wear line, but also worth a peek are the concealer trio, shimmer strips gel liners, and bamboo wear.

and probably the best news of all? physicians formula is now on twitter so you can follow their every move (squeal)!

even steven1

apparently, women with skin discolorations are perceived to be up to 10 years older than they really are.* we all know that avoiding the sun is the best way to prevent those little love bites known as hyper pigmentation but it’s not always an option (and it’s certainly not always fun!). next best thing? use a skin brightener plus spf to even out tone and fade those discolorations while preventing new damage. brilliant!

bobbi brown has created a total wonder product with brightening spot treatment corrector spf 25. it covers and discolors while providing protection against new imperfection. (say that ten times fast?) i am seriously so excited about this tiny tube! it’s $35 and just what the dermatologist ordered.

nars carioca cream eyeshadow0

in honor of saint patrick’s day i felt it was only fair that i confess: i’m officially on a mint green eyeshadow kick. my light skin just absolutely craves this of-the-moment shade! problem is? it’s tough to find. in a pinch, i found one tiny mint square in the middle of a clinique shadow trio called rainforest but i am happy to report that i have discovered the true and holy grail in nars carioca. it gives a sheer wash of sparkling sea-foam and looks just gorgeous on fair babies like moi. i’ve long been a fan of nars cream shadows for their lasting power and perfect pigments so i’m not at all surprised that they delivered a home run in my quest for minty goodness. it’s easy being green!

meet sue0

if sue devitt isn’t already on your beauty radar, let me introduce you to her incredible line. (technically, we met her briefly a few weeks ago but 30% off everything on her site spurred me to tell you a bit more!) i fell quickly for the australian miss devitt upon first glance at her beautiful products but even more so after hearing her personal mantra: beauty is an adventure with endless destinations. love! her formulas are inspired by exotic destinations discovered through her travels as a makeup artist and are infused with floral and marine extracts from mother nature. my personal recommendations are the fool-proof eye intensifier pencil and luxury lash mascara.

happy shopping, beautiful.

priti nails9

according to bellasugar, organic doesn’t mean much when it comes to cosmetics. i still maintain that anything that i can find with a few less chemicals to put on, in or near my body is a win in my book! my latest discovery is priti, a line of non-toxic nail polish and removers (let’s face it: acetone dissolves crazy glue so it can’t do nice things to your fingertips). unlike most natural beauty products, this one actually competes with its toxic counterparts and is long wearing, chip resistant, with a super shiny finish. if i’m being perfectly honest, i would be in hot pursuit of this line for its edgy shades alone. standouts include starry trail violet, queen victoria, and oleaster all at $12.50 so you can save the earth, one manicure at a time.
