the task of choosing a signature scent is always daunting. not only is smelling dozens of perfumes overwhelming, fragrances smell different on everyone so beauty counter recommendations are rarely a dependable source of information. well fear not my lovelies because the brilliant beauty gurus at marie claire have created a clever quiz to help you discover your signature scent! the 21 questions range from “how do you want your fragrance to make you feel?” to “what’s your home decor style?” even covering topics like your favorite dessert and what body part you most prefer to show off. it’s super fun, takes minutes, and the result is three to six personally picked perfumes to explore. once you’ve got that precious list in hand, run down to sephora and start sampling. my personal calling card, viktor & rolf flowerbomb, is up above. don’t forget to come back to tell us if the quiz worked for you and if so, which new scent is yours all yours!

i’m guilty of rocking the hit-the-alarm-button-seventeen-times-AGAIN ponytail all to often. i truly wish i was one of those chicks that could commit to the whole, wash, blowdry, straighten, routine daily but it just doesn’t happen. alas, i pop one of these babies in (yes, that’s right. a disposable hair elastic worthy of the treadmill and that’s IT) and prepare to tackle my commute. it has struck me that as a professional young lady in her (ahem) late 20’s, it is high time to up the polish factor and dress up that pony. i’m opting for a classic tortoise barrette that’s allowing me to roll out of bed and go with little effort, but still leaves a grown-up impression more suitable for work.

so, tell me! any other tried and true solutions for polishing up my favorite snooze-button hairstyle?

i am a raving fan of hobo international. a local company started for women by women to solve all of our handbag and accessory dilemmas with their collection of amazing leather goodies. their latest release includes the gorgeous frame makeup case you see above. the “make-over,” as it’s been dubbed, is fully lined and comes complete with an interior mirror. i am completely in love with the beautiful hardware, kisslock closure, and flip-top frame. it’s almost too pretty to keep my products in!

i have fallen hard for this most adorable fragrance oil by monyette paris. it’s called coquette tropique (or tropical flirt) and has recently caught the attention of natalie portman and christina applegate. since it’s a concetrated oil, a little of this alluringly sexy stuff goes a long way and while it’s kind of summery, it’s also fun and happy and reminds me of one very fabulous vacation to beachy la jolla. i’m slightly bummed i found it so late in the season, but the warm madagascar vanilla topnote makes me believe i can carry it into the winter months.

now i know sweet scents aren’t for everyone but the combination of citrus and polynesian flowers really lighten this one up giving it an island feel that will send your mind on vacation even if your butt’s in your office chair.
