mineral mascara madness1

marvelous

after reading a tempting review in this month’s lucky, i sped over to my local kiehl’s counter to sample marvelous mineral mascara. i think the only reason i waited this long is due to several previous natural mascara disappointments like this (let’s just say smudge-o-rama). i prefer bambi-like blam lashes so you can see my hesitancy in turning towards a more natural look. kiehl’s, however, has brought the best of both worlds. i have fallen in love with the resulting long fluttery lashes that look like they’re home grown! the black color adds a little extra glossy drama that compliments anyone. best of all, i’m no longer putting chemicals near my somewhat sensitive eyes. keeper!

flawless definition

now, as for my latest case of lash lust, i must admit that i am not a patient girl, bloggettes. when i catch wind of something new and exciting, i want it before anyone else. and let me tell you, i have caught the impulse bug bigtime with an up & coming mascara from bare minerals called flawless definition. it made its pretty debut on qvc as part of the sea yourself collection you spy up above but it’s not yet available on its own. so if you’re like me and just can’t wait to give that charming little black tube a test drive, hop on over to your local ulta and grab a free deluxe trial of the goodstuff with any bareMinerals purchase. then hurry back and let us know what you think! is my impetuous pouting justified? or are my wishes for a second mineral mascara that delivers still out of reach?

lily

my college days were lily pulitzer filled to say the least. i was too cool for school in my paisley skirts and flirty floral dresses looking more like i belonged at a country club than in class. i’ve outgrown my lily days now, leaving it to little girls and cute moms that can pull it off. lily, however, has recaptured my attention and this time, it’s in a scent. this lily pulitzer fragrance rollerball features two best selling perfumes in one convenient little wand. both absolutely perfect for summer, wink smells of fruity pear and freesia, while beachy has notes of yummy frangipani. sweet and simple enough to toss into any bag, it brings new meaning to casual elegance.

rosie-jane-cheek-gloss

glossarie fans, you are in for a real treat! rosie jane is a self dubbed well-edited brand (read: just a few perfect products) the anchor of which is a cult favorite. a product that instyle magazine claims “makes the beautiful people beautiful” cheek gloss is super easy to blend leaving behind translucent shiny color. i have never been able to get on board with cream blushes and cheek tints, but this one is so flattering, so loveably smudgeable that i can’t resist. it comes in three shades for all of your beautiful skintones and the whole collection can be ogled here.

two liners to love1

i was not born with a steady hand and i am tragically unskilled in the application of eyeliner (hence the lack of pencil-lovin’ posts around here!). there have been, however, two mistake-proof saving graces for my poor naked eyelids and i’m sharing them both with you today. so, read on & enjoy!

super slim'n'sexy

slim'n'sexy

first up is tarte emphaseyes, billed as a natural high definition skinny mini twist up pencil. its very fine point makes the perfect tool for filling in gaps between the drawn line and your lashes so it’s easy to build that perfect even-all-the-way-across stripe. bonus: it also never needs to be sharpened. available in five shades, black is a must have for all you beauty minimalists out there!

creamy & dreamy

creamy & dreamy

on the flip side is urban decay’ 24/7, a bolder thicker super smooth glider available in (wait for it) 19 bright hues. the silky formula is beyond easy to apply and it stays really soft for smudging and blending then dries to a waterproof finish sure to last through your best dance marathon.

welp, there ya have it. two of sephora’s most highly reviewed eyeliners further endorsed by the glossarie!

rose-colored glosses1

petal soft

petal soft

there’s a certain something about a rosy lip tint that flatters all skintones. this one from fresh is an upgrade on the original, smooth and hydrating, with a hint of soft sheer color. it’s got spf15 to boot plus the most travel-friendly lip product packaging i’ve found (metal case and handy screw top = no chance of an in-purse disaster!). i love the idea of layering this under your favorite gloss for extra moisture, shine, punch of color & sun protection! if you’re a budget beauty who can’t stomach the $22.50, let me also recommend a holy grail-like drugstore version.

two treats for tips from essie0

triple threat

triple threat

nothing screams summer like the perfect pedi peeking out of your favorite beat-up flops or those splurge-worthy open toe strappy wedges. it’s no surprise that essie, creator of my all time favorite shade  for toes brings us icing on the cake to any pretty polish. their 3-way glaze serves as a strengthener, basecoat, and topcoat plus adds the perfect gloss to any color giving that super shiny almost wet look.

it's matte-ning!

it's matte-ning!

on the flip side of super girly, shockingly shiny brights is the latest trend in nails: flatte out matte! keeping themselves forever relevant and on the heels this trend after competitors OPI and knock out have released their own matte collections, essie releases matte about you this july.  most recommended for deep jewel tones and vampy darks, i have to say i love the idea of one bottle that changes any polish to a funky matte finish. fun!

make mine a double0

liptini mixer lip base pencil - ice water

liptini mixer lip base pencil - ice water

i have discovered the best little product by liptini. this  pencil is actually a cooling, colorless lip balm that you can wear under your favorite lipstick to make it more sheer or over your favorite stain or tint to add a bit of moisture and shine. chock full of shea butter, it can also be used to soften and care for dry pesky cuticles which i absolutely love (though i might not recommend using the same pencil on both your fingers and your lips). so there ya have it,  a multitasking product in a convenient chubby pencil. brilliant!

customize your lips

customize your lips

i’m always looking for the next big thing in beauty and customized lipgloss has been gaining popularity since smashbox introduced this number and then dior recently followed suit with this guy. now, i’m not a fan of either since they both tend to make my lips go nuclear pink, however, it seems there is hope on the horizon! of all brands, avon has created a seven-in-one ultra customizable lipstick. new spectracolor is a clickable, blendable liquid lippie available in 10 color families. each tube holds two shades that can be amped up or down depending on your mood and setting, creating endless possibilities. the formula is soft and stays put without bleeding which is quite impressive!

now to hunt down my local avon lady :)
