pretty for a penny: eucerin giveaway12

eucerin beautiful skin

*

we’re having a snow day in dc today, so this post could not be more appropriate! my inbox has been flooded with questions about winter skincare for the body and since i’m starting to feel like a broken record, i thought i’d round up some good options. in short, my response to all dry and itchy wintery woes is to head straight to the drugstore and stock up on eucerin. their product range has more than enough choices to keep you covered at the friendliest of price points, but with so many different formulas, it can be tricky to pick the best one for your specific skin concern. here are a few of my seasonal favorites, listed from the most lightweight to the richest:

eucerin daily replenishing moisturizing lotion, $7.20
pampering and deeply moisturizing while still being light and non greasy.
if you need a little something extra for winter, but your skin isn’t super dry
this is a great option to enhance your skin health without going overboard.

eucerin daily protection moisturizing body lotion with spf 15, $7.89
moisturizes and helps protect against uv exposure. goes on smooth and
is fragrance free, so you don’t have to smell like the beach in the dead of winter.

eucerin skin calming daily moisturizing cream, $7.99
an emollient-rich formula with oatmeal to soothe dry, itchy skin.
the formula is ultra gentle and not only calms dry skin, but works to prevent it as well.

eucerin original healing soothing repair creme, $11.99
serious stuff for very dry skin that needs repairing.
especially amazing for eczema and psoriasis sufferers.

bonus: if your lips are on fire, there’s nothing better than aquaphor lip repair!

the lovely people at eucerin are offering up a ‘beautiful skin’ prize pack filled with these four favorites and lots of other skin-loving goodies. if your skin is struggling through this cold harsh winter, let the glossarie and eucerin offer you some salvation!

benefit the POREfessional12

benefit professional

i don’t know why i held off so long on giving this little beauty a try. it’s not new and there’s no shortage of rave reviews so really, i had no excuse. but, as i was prepping my skin for a photo shoot over the weekend i found myself in need of a lightweight primer that would do a little legwork, evening out my skin tone before i applied my makeup. most primers out there work to adhere makeup to your skin and elongate its staying power (also helpful) but benefit’s the POREfessional goes above and beyond those expectations to basically airbrush your skin.

the silky (i mean super) silky formula has a hint of tint that evens out redness, hides pores, and minimizes imperfections. it’s an easy step that gives your foundation an added boost to really make you look flawless. i love that it absorbs fast leaving skin insanely smooth and ready for the foundation brush. i find that i’m using less concealer and also enjoying long-term mattifying effects – two major bonuses in my book. all in all, i’m obsessed with the results – which are as if someone waved their tiny photoshop wand over your face and left you looking like a more perfect version of yourself. (as if that were even possible.)

hello, lover14

i’m a ‘lover’ of:

– my cute husband + kitten, ivy
– fresh manicures
– sleeping in
– skim lattes
– ballet flats
– prosecco
– and this absolutely freaking adorable sweatshirt!

lover manifesto

you already know my sweet + talented friend meg, but did you also know that meg has created a super cool shirt company? it’s called manifesto and each month brings a unique design featuring that month’s word. meg has already released two limited edition shirts in 2013 with many more to come. february’s is a yummy heather red sweatshirt that feels soo cozy – i’ve been living in mine since it arrived. i totally connected with the word lover and had some fun snapping a few pictures in my nyc hotel room over the weekend.

safe to say that i’m obsessed with this concept and this sweatshirt!

day to night: simple skincare0

day to night: simple skincare

*

i’m forever searching for the perfect day moisturizer – one that will give me a religious experience. in short, i want one that is light but nourishing, hydrating and doesn’t feel heavy or tacky on my skin. i try a lot of moisturizers and what lets most of the front runners down is their lack of spf. when i hop out of the shower, my skin quickly starts to feel tight so i need a face lotion that’s going to soak in and soothe, right off the bat. from there, i need a formula that is fragrance-free, without anything that might irritate my skin and it has to be oil free (i mean, my pores clog if you look at them the wrong way). simple has nailed their protecting light moisturizer formula meeting all of the preceding criteria with the addition of spf.

at night, i’ve found that added moisture keeps my skin very happy – especially when i’m traveling. the vital vitamin night cream is super hydrating without being heavy. it soaks in all the way, leaving nothing sitting on my skin and brings a softness that i love, love, love. vitamin e improves my skin while i sleep, and the ingredients work together to bring balance after a long day. in the morning, my skin is soothed and stress-free – totally ready to face the day.

this duo has far exceeded by expectations! do you have any simple products in your day-to-night routine?

this post was created in connection with my appointment as an ambassador in the simple® skincare program.

ojon damage reverse hair serum4

ojon damage reverse instant restorative hair serum

the winter is wreaking havoc on my head, from root to tip. i feel like no matter what i do, my hair looks completely fried and i don’t love it. my hair stylist taught me that the most essential product i can use in my hair is a heat protectant since i blow dry and flat iron every other day (emphasis on the flat iron, i have no talent with a round brush). so, i do that, but it’s just not enough. then on a whim, i picked up a mini bottle of this ojon serum and my tresses are loving the effects. just a drop or two added to my heat protectant of choice and i’m instantly enjoying extra shine and smoothness. it doesn’t leave any residue behind or weigh my fine hair down, yet my flat iron glides through more easily and leaves things just a touch more manageable. the finish is salon-worthy and i’m kicking myself for not adding it to my every-other-daily routine sooner.

do you use a hair oil? how late am i to this party anyway?

clinique chubby stick shadow tint for eyes2

clinique chubby stick shadow tint for eyes

i love the clinique chubby sticks for lips so it’s no surprise that their eyeshadow story is equally deserving of my affection. in this revamped version, creamy eye color is tucked inside twist-up chunky pencils for easy one-handed application and ultra long wear. the gorgeous palette includes tame neutrals and bold shades that can be layered together for look after look. i’ve found that these are incredibly easy to blend into your crease or onto your lid and can even be grazed along the lash line as a smudgy liner. if you’re eye makeup challenged like me, you’ll really like how easy these are to work with. the pen itself is huge giving a nice wash of color, plus it’s completely portable thanks to a click-on top (no need to worry about painting the inside of your handbag in ‘portly plum’). if you’ve been searching for a spring addition to your eye wardrobe, look no further. i think that the combination of formula and packaging is so good here, you’re going to want to scoop up more than one!
