ponytail inspiration: put a ring on it12

{via}

i am totally struck by this fun way to add a little sparkle to your everyday low pony. the shot above was snapped at dries van noten’s paris fashion week fall 2011 show where hairstylist paul hanlon added an adjustable gold ring to each ‘tail. stunning! it’s an idea that’s easy, achievable and talk about a great purchase – a dazzling stretch ring that compliments any cocktail dress or denim ensemble on the hand AND doubles as a hair tie for when the fun really gets rolling.

my tip for a smooth execution: slide an elastic on first, then the ring over top. and for those of you concerned that your hair will get caught up in the stretchy ring’s stretchiness, i can affirm that i have road tested this several times now without incident!

lucky for us, stretch rings are absolutely everywhere these days and you can add a little bling or a lot depending on your choice, style and mood. here are a few picks that would give instant glamor to to any pretty ponytail:

what do you think: will you give this runway-inspired trick a try?

love & toast happiness kit0

happy weekend glossy guys ‘n’ gals! i’m ‘tween trips to and from nyc at the moment and totally indulging in all the comforts of home – my bed, my little goddaughter, my favorite bagel deli, and the husband, of course. while unpacking, i stumbled upon the best new thing to hit my carry-on – this happiness kit from love & toast.

it’s got everything you could possibly need to keep clean and pampered, all in the most delicious mood-boosting scents. there’s a shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, sugar scrub, face wash, face scrub, moisturizer, lip scrub and a lip butter. i love each one and have had no facial freak outs thanks to the all natural ingredients. the fact that all ten pieces come dolled up in the most adorable packaging and in their own clear zip top pouch, makes this group of goodies so travel-friendly and something i know i will pick up again and again. all in all, it’s a welcome addition to my elizabeth tote and a perfect treat for any road warrior.

now, back to my couch…

viv & ingrid gold & blue peacock chandelier earrings9

so, first things first: what do you think of the blog’s little face lift? i recruited the insanely talented tabitha emma and she worked her crazy beautiful magic. i cannot thank her enough and i am in love with the new look!

secondly, i dashed off to nyc for work last friday and completely neglected my blogging responsibilities between then and now. sorry for disappearing on ya! i have been at the accessorie circuit where i ogled some of the most beautiful jewelry, scarf, handbag, and clothing brands on the planet while representing hobo and our fall holiday collection. it was quite a whirlwind – albeit a fun and rewarding one.

in walking around to get a glimpse of what some of my favorite brands will be debuting for fall, i spotted these earrings from viv & ingrid. aren’t they amazing? they instantly caught my eye and i had to try them on. the gold beads give them sparkle while the blues are so incredibly on trend. stunning! if you’re not familiar with viv & ingrid, you must go take a peek at their beautiful designs. everything they create is perfectly feminine and easy to wear – their pieces go with absolutely everything in your closet and you will reach for them again and again.

i’m going to get to saving my pretty pennies for a pair of these lovelies. happy humpday all!

suzy homemaker sundays: ultimate chocolate chip cookie and oreo fudge brownie bar4

according to dictionary.com, suzy homemaker is (n) a housewife who manages a household , especially with enthusiasm; also a doll of the 1960’s and while my kitchen is not quite as cute in teal and chrome, i absolutely loveĀ  to bake. i would go so far as to say that it’s my third love after beauty and accessories so to channel my inner suzy this evening, here’s what’s happening in my oven:

that would be chocolate chip cookie dough + a layer of oreo cookes + brownie batter and reason number 863,019 why steve and i will never be the skinny couple. this totally indulgent recipe was borrowed from the ever adorable kevin {&} amanda. click on over to their place for all the gory details.

i’m thinking this could be the start of a new series (probably not every week, i mean i would weigh a thousand pounds) but we’ll see how things go – both in my kitchen and here on the blog before any rash decisions are made :)

for now, while i settle in with true blood and a slice of this deliciousness, i hope you all enjoy your sunday!

paul & joe beaute central park west palette + fall 2011 makeup collection0

i caught a glimpse of the fall 2011 collection from paul & joe beaute teased on twitter yesterday and was blow away by its girly gorgeousness.

along with the central park west palette pictured above, the collection includes two more palettes, a really cool looking eye shadow trio, three lipsticks, three eyeliners, and three nail lacquers.

you can view the full lineup over at fruity lashes and you can bet that once it’s available, you can view the shades of central park west on my lids and cheeks all autumn long.

is it september yet??

hampton sun privet bloom rollerball + lovely links3

it’s friday!

kinda snuck up on me this week, but i am so not complaining. it is also at least a bagillion degrees in dc. if it’s just as hot and steamy where you are, this week’s friday fave will keep you smelling fresh as a daisy even if you’re really just drowning in your own sweat (not pretty).

this chubby little rollerball houses your new favorite summer scent, hampton sun privet bloom. a dab to the inner wrists and neck will have you smelling green and floral with just a touch of sweetness. the fragrance is delightfully uncomplicated, extra light and fresh, so you won’t feel overpowered but you’ll fool everyone into thinking you’re a natural in staying cool in the blistering heat. it almost evokes a vintage gatsby feel (summer always makes me think of that book!) and brings a touch more elegance to my day when really i look like i just went swimming with my clothes on.

ahh, simple pleasures. the hampton sun privet bloom eau de parfum rollerball is $22 at sephora.

{and now for a few lovely links}

i’m blogging for birchbox all next week (squeal! pinch me! so excited.) so i’ll be linking up to my pretty posts daily. hope you’ll follow along and we’ll be back to business as usual a week from monday.

happy weekend, party people!
