the art of the arm party + it’s friiiday!13

i’ve been totally crushing on leandra’s (aka the man repeller) awesome arm adornments, appropriately dubbed “the arm party.” so much so that i decided to assemble ideas for my own collection of baubles and bangles.

welcome to the wrist soiree:

{gemstone and metal bracelets from the vamoose, $22.75 each}

{jess lc paisley bracelet, $30}

{sparkler bracelet from ayofemi jewelry – currently sold out}

{linked turquoise bracelet from ayofemi jewelry, $32}

my parents gifted me this cape cod bracelet for graduation and i’ve been thinking that it makes a nice base for a multi-toned and textured stack but i’m torn on where to go next! that jess lc paisley bracelet is really calling to me…

do you rock an arm party or wrist soiree? i need more inspiration so please comment below or instagram to your heart’s content @theglossarie. lots of love and happy weekend!

thursday purseday: jpk paris paisley print bucket bag3

{from left to right: yellow, sky, black, and melon}

when was the last time you saw this much pretty?

jpk paris is the maker of the famous nylon bucket bag. you know the ones – chunky gold hardware and a single leather strap, all kinds of versatile and gorgeous in bold, bright solid colors.

well, this new version packs a fun paisley print in four shades and i am crazy over each one! the great thing about these bags is their simplicity: just one large, deep compartment and a couple of slip pockets for your important treasures. they’re easy to carry and i think they make a very chic statement. in fact, i can already picture the sky or the melon print with my favorite white tee or black blazer – love, love, love.

don’t you?

the jpk paris paisley print bucket bag is available at nordstrom for $188.

physician’s formula mineral wear airbrushing kabuki is one ballin’ brush5

powder foundation gals, meet your new best friend.

i’ve always invested in professional grade makeup brushes because it seems to me that the less expensive drugstore versions lose their hairs and just don’t perform as well. for years, i’ve applied my mineral makeup with bare escentuals full flawless face brush and at $28 a pop, it’s not exactly a pocket friendly purchase. the quality, however, was unmatched and so i committed to my spensy brush habit and carried on.

until i discovered this blue beauty from physician’s formula.

the mineral wear airbrushing kabuki brush is a godsend for those of us who prefer powder foundations. first off – the quality is incredible and for a budget buy, this brush has the softest bristles and applies mineral makeup like a dream. the wide and flat shape is totally revolutionary and helps to buff powder onto skin gently and evenly for amazing coverage. i am smitten!

i should warn you that it’s a bit on the chunky side and could be tricky to travel with, but it gives me the most flawless,  natural look i’ve found and is therefore highly recommended.

want one? the physician’s formula mineral wear airbrushing kabuki is available at drugstores for around $10.

june bag + balm2

balm: fresh sugar honey tinted lip treatment spf 15, $22.50

bag: mac surf baby! bag, $28 (in mac stores only)

june’s balm is sun-kissed sun protection from the beauties at fresh. their tinted sugar lip treatments have been a hit on this here blog before, but it’s their new honey shade that’s got me swooning. this formula is more creamy and opaque than its sheer sisters – rose and plum. it’s moisturizing and the warmest yummiest nude shade i’ve seen. it’s my go-to summer lippie thanks to the addition of spf 15 and i’d be lost without it!

such a bronzey balm needed a fun summery bag to call home and i’m absolutely loving the one from mac’s surf baby! collection. the waxed canvas showcases coral red, yellow, and gray stripes that look hand painted. it comes in two sizes (this is the smaller) and is available only in mac stores.

kind of makes you want to hang ten?

thursday purseday + my new gig20

it’s only fitting that i announce my next career move today and you’ll soon see why : )

after navigating the long and windy graduate school road and receiving my mba last month, i wanted nothing more than to pursue a profession that fits my passion. i am thrilled to tell you that in just a few short weeks, i will start an exciting opportunity with my longtime favorite brand, hobo international. i will be managing sales to independent retailers (ie super fabulous boutiques) in the mid-atlantic region and i. can. not. WAIT!

for starters, i have had an intense love affair with these handbags for over ten years now. they are the real deal – high quality materials, awesome hardware, gorgeous linings and bunches of pockets to keep you organized. i am over the moon for the little family of seven that i’ve got living in my closet to grow and grow beyond all ridiculousness and reason!

as if i could become any more of a bag lady? lord help us.

in all seriousness, i am chomping at the bit to begin representing hobo from new jersey to dc. i am looking forward to hitting the road and meeting all of the incredible boutique owners who share the hobo love in their darling shops and i will most certainly be sharing my adventures right here on the glossarie.

in honor of thursday purseday, here are a few of my most favorite hobo bags:

the incredibly versatile eydie in citrus, $288

the super stunning done deal in taupe, $388

the due course in ocean with zipper detailing to die for, $268

cool, convertible zara in caramel, $118

it’s almost too much pretty to handle! i’ll keep you posted as things unfold, but fear not, the glossarie is not going anywhere. however, if you’re hankering for a new obsession, take a peek at hobo on facebook and twitter. you might just catch my fever!

tuesday shoesday: seychelles anthology gladiator0

i live for seychelles footwear. they reign queen of the everyday shoe and for as long as i can remember i’ve scoured the shelves at nordstrom rack looking for low-priced pairs of this beloved brand – they’re my favorite, favorite.

it’s no surprise that this season i’ve been totally lusting the “golden grove” sandals at anthropologie. something about the cool shape, gorgeous beading, and back zipper make them unlike anything else in my closet. it was love at first click, but i fell deeper after closer inspection when i discovered they’re by seychelles (dubbed the anthology gladiator everywhere else but anthro).

and then i discovered that they were $90.

until today.

the golden grove sandals are now on sale for $49.95 at anthropologie and still available in all sizes.

in season: julep nail color5

i almost leaped out of my seat after catching a glimpse of this stunning nail color collection in last week’s lucky daily (do you get that email? it’s pure evil and i mean that in the best possible way). i did a bit more research and found that julep is a foursome of boutique nail parlors in washington state with its own lineup of 68 vibrant and gorgeous polish shades.

while i can’t find much by way of formula other than being free of the big 3, the unique colors and adorable packaging are enough to get me on board. to tempt you further, their website has a little tool called the color stylist that helps you whittle down the vast color selection into a smaller bunch selected just for you. it uses everything from skin tone to season and occasion to customize the shop – it’s totally brilliant.

julep is also offering free shipping on all summer orders – must i keep writing?!

hot on my list are sea foam-y miranda, sunny blake, and bubblegum-y susan but i’m also considering the catherine and pippa duo – two very wearable and classic shades. so much to choose from – i foresee many a manicure in the summer months ahead!

are you loving these pretty polishes? visit julep online to treat your own tips.

new kids on the blog + bare escentuals pretty amazing lip color0

have i told you i’m going to witness the most epic collaboration in boyband history tonight? that’s right, me and five of my favorite ladies have tickets to see nkotbsb. i’m mildly (ok, insanely) excited. they’re bringing me back to my boston roots tonight and i am bursting at the seams with nine year old glee!

anyway, speaking of new, i wanted to introduce a recent obsession. have you seen these pretty amazing lipcolors from bare escentuals? they’ve got to be the coolest new kids on the beauty block. the color is intense and opaque – almost like a matte liquid lipstick. it’s strangely hydrating and the applicator polishes your pout with complete precision. i’m impressed! i’ve been rocking it in charisma and can’t wait to wear it with a new dress to what is sure to be one fabulous wedding tomorrow. (no, i don’t plan to run off with one of the new kids. steve’s cousin and my beloved hair stylist, christina, is tying the knot!)

intrigued? pretty amazing lip color is available in eight shades at nordstrom, sephora, and online for $16. you must try!

a few more pretty things i’m loving this week:

have one pretty amazing weekend, lovelies!
