with a master’s in business and a passion for all things pretty, i took a bold leap into the blogosphere. i am a professional bag lady for the best handbag brand on the planet by day and a beauty-addict-slash-blogstress by night. i’m a positive, friendly, and lucky girl living a charmed life in the dc area with my yummy husband. this blog and its readers are among my most favorite things.
the glossarie launched in the spring of 2009 and what started as a little beauty blog has become an outlet for girliness of all kinds. posts showcase products, recommendations and reviews from my own beauty-obsessed brain with an emphasis on practical pretty that works.
my look is natural, girly (no surprise), and i prefer products that bring out my existing features and keep me looking like, well…me. i’m obsessed with my brows and constantly on the hunt for the ultimate mascara. when shopping for new things to post and put on, i strive for pretty, classic, and flattering and i don’t discriminate against brand or price point – i dabble in everything from drugstore to department store to designer. i’m promiscuous with product so you don’t have to be (read: even if it doesn’t end up on the blog, i try it all).
a makeup artist. i have very little talent with makeup application evidenced by the fact that i don’t wear eyeliner (just can’t do it, i’ve accepted it as s a handicap) and rarely wear shadow. my skincare routine is pretty simple since my skin tends toward the sensitive. i have to be super careful about testing tons of masks, scrubs, and moisturizers for that reason – i just can’t risk an insane facial freak out.
a photographer. i envy the bloggers out there that swatch and upload ’til their heart’s content. it’s just not for me. in exchange for visuals, i promise honest opinions on product performance and my highest endorsement for things i think every addict should own.
a negative nelly. you won’t find a bad review in the glossarie, ever. if i don’t have a great experience with something, i just won’t write about it. i focus on promoting the good stuff out there, the products that really wow and impress me, to give love to all of the amazing brands i think everyone should know about. i do still test a *ton* of products, so if you’re interested in reading about some of the ones that don’t make it on the blog, you can find a running list of beauty product mini reviews here.

the privacy of my readers is of the utmost importance. i automatically collect some information from all visitors to the glossarie, however, none of this information is shared with outside parties.
the glossarie contains advertising and some contextual affiliate marketing links. this means that i may earn commission on sales of the products that i feature in my posts.
should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at theglossarie@gmail.com.

So, I totally stumbled across your blog while looking for fellow DMV bloggers. And basically, you have the cutest site ever. (And you look like a brunette Katherine Heigel, who is hottt.)
I’m obsessed with beauty stuff, sooo I can’t wait to scroll through everything.

Hi Lara-
I work with your Dad, and he just showed me your website. It really looks great. I suggest you read “The 4 Hour Workweek” by Timothy Ferriss at your earliest convenience, since you have already mastered some of the key insights of the book, and I think it is full of thought provoking content on how to design a lifestyle that leverages your apparent skills.
Best of Luck,
Larry Candell
thanks, larry! i’m so happy you stopped by and i will definitely add “the 4 hour work week” to my reading list :)
